Review request after checkout
Send this only if a review reminder is allowed where they booked, and only after they have checked out.
When to send
Send a review request after checkout, never before, and only when you have checked that the place they booked allows a reminder. Rules differ, and they change. If you are unsure, do not send this message. A reminder that breaks a platform rule is worse than silence. {review_window} should be the real remaining time, such as “open for the next week” or “closes on Friday,” based on what that platform shows you today. Do not invent a date.
{guest_name} should already have had a stay that ended. {property_name} is the home they left. If you also send the thank-you, wait at least a few hours so the two notes are not one blended ask. Some hosts send only this and skip the thank-you. Some send only the thank-you. Sending both at the same minute makes the thanks look like a setup for the ask.
The template refuses a perk and refuses a script. Keep those refusals. “Mention the kitchen” and “a review gets you 10 percent next time” are the lines that cause problems. There is no next-time discount hiding in {review_window}.
Timing tip
The useful moment is after they are home and before the window shuts, not the minute of checkout. Checkout morning is bags and traffic. A note that evening or the next day is easier to act on. If {review_window} is short, say so, and still do not send a second and third reminder. One note is the maximum this template is for.
Do not send it while a maintenance complaint is unresolved. Ask for a review after the leak is handled or not at all. A request sitting above an unanswered repair is the review you will regret.
If they already reviewed, do not send this. Check before you press send. Thanking them for a review they have not written, or asking after they have written one, both look automated.
Common mistakes
An incentive is the first mistake. Money, a future discount, a gift card, or a hint that a good review changes how you review them is an exchange. The template says nothing is offered. Do not add a wink.
The second is a suggested star rating or a paragraph they should paste. Guests who wanted to write will write. A script produces reviews that sound like you, and it can violate the platform’s authenticity rules. {review_window} is the only logistical fact they need.
The third is volume. Three reminders, a public reply that nudges them, and a note on the checkout sign are a campaign. This is one message. If they ignore it, the window closes and you write your own guest review from what you observed, which is a separate job.
Tone when the stay was imperfect
You may skip this template. A review request after a tense checkout asks them to rehearse the conflict in public. If you do send it, do not steer them away from the imperfect part. “If you can focus on the positives” is a script. The honest version is the template as written: they can review, they do not have to, and you are not paying for it.
