Report infringement

If you own a copyright or are authorized to act for its owner, your notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • The copyrighted work you believe is infringed, or a representative list when several works at one site are involved.
  • The material you want removed or disabled and enough information, such as its exact URL, for us to locate it.
  • Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address so we can contact you.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • A statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the right allegedly infringed.

Counter-notice

If you believe material was removed or disabled through mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). Include your physical or electronic signature, identify the removed material and its former location, and state under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification.

Include your name, address and telephone number. State that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district where the service provider may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or that person's agent.

We may share the counter-notice with the original complainant. Following a valid counter-notice, material may be restored in 10–14 business days unless we receive notice that the complainant has filed an action seeking a court order. A knowing material misrepresentation may create liability.

Repeat infringement

We terminate repeat infringers' accounts and stores in appropriate circumstances. We may remove or restrict content that infringes others' rights.

See the U.S. Copyright Office's explanation of section 512 and the statute.
